At first, we wanted our word to be jealousy, but after filming we decided that the word replacement would be a better choice. When it comes to film, replacement can mean that a romantic partner has been replaced with someone else. On the day of filming, Hayden asked her friend Mya to help record. We started off with a two shot of me and Hayden sitting together on the bench, then the camera does a close up shot of me putting my hand on top of hers, implying that we are in a relationship.
We used a variety of shots for this film such as close up, medium, trucking, POV, and over the shoulder to convey the story. The close up shots would show more detail, whether it is the emotion on a character's face, or to emphasize extra details. After the scene where I put my hand on top of Hayden's, we used a trucking shot to show Mya walking by. She flips her hair and the camera does a close up where my face lights up almost in a cartoonish way, this would imply that I think she is really beautiful.
For this next part we did not think a lot about. It shows me and Mya talking while Hayden is watching us from around the corner. However, the camera showed me and Hayden sitting down, and all of a sudden I am standing up and talking to Mya. Maybe it would be better if we did a part where Hayden walks away, I get Mya's attention and start talking to her, and Hayden walks back and sees us.
Back to the film, the camera shows a medium shot of me and Mya talking, and then Hayden watching us from around the corner. There is also a POV shot of Hayden turning around the corner to see us. I was impressed with this next shot where we did a shallow focus pull, the camera would focus on me talking to Mya and then on Hayden watching us.
The next shot is an aerial shot takes place in the bathroom where we see Hayden's reflection in the mirror. She has her hands over her face, implying that she is upset and crying. It then cuts to an over the shoulder shot of Hayden looking at her phone. The camera does a close up shot of a text saying "I'm breaking up with you." This part is where our word 'replacement' comes into effect, saying that Hayden has been replaced.
When we finished filming, we realized that we did not do an establishing shot. Hayden and I then did a long shot of the main hallway as it establishes the location for our film.
Our film was shorter than the other groups, mostly everyone else's was over a minute long whereas ours was 38 seconds. The music also helped guide the audience into what was happening by setting the mood. This activity was a good way to get us introduced into the class and it helped us learn about what we did well and what we can improve on for future projects.
